Pre-wedding shoots – two important points
The first point you should know about pre-wedding shoots is that they’re great fun and of real benefit in preparing you for the photographs I’ll be taking on your actual wedding day. If you’ve not used to being photographed professionally (and who is? After all, we’re not professional models are we?) a pre-wed will let you experience what it’s like to work with me. And once you’ve got over the initial worry (which most people have, and which is only natural – after all, we all want to look our best in photos don’t we?), you’ll realise that being photographed is actually an enjoyable experience. You’ll relax, start to understand the slight nuances in how to stand or sit that make a big difference to the final photograph. You’ll start to look for places that would make good backgrounds for the images. And when I say “okay, I think we’ve got enough shots” at the end, you’ll even be slightly disappointed that it’s come to an end.
The second point you should know about pre-wedding shoots with me is that, because of the location of my studio, I’ve got the grounds of Arley Hall to play in! So if you want to be photographed against a stately home background, or in a giant line of Ibex columns, or in award-winning gardens, you can! But, equally, if you want to go for a walk in the woods, or by the sea, or down to the river, or anywhere that means a lot to you, please let me know. It’s always good to photograph in new places.
The photographs here are from a pre-wedding shoot that I did with Sarah and Nick in the grounds at Arley Hall back in the early autumn. They’re getting married in just under a fortnight on New Year’s Eve in a late afternoon civil ceremony at the Hall, followed by dinner and an evening do that will, at some time near midnight, turn into a New Year party, at least for a few minutes. That’ll be blogged later in January once Sarah and Nick have viewed their wedding proofs.
What’s great is that these shots will look totally different to the wedding images, because they were shot at such a different time of year.

I hope you enjoy them. Please feel free to leave a comment.
