Peckforton Castle is a stunning wedding venue in Cheshire, and a place where I never tire of working.
Jill and Mark’s wedding there took place on a rainy, grey winter’s day – which only added to the atmosphere! Shooting this wedding was definitely one of my highlights of 2011.
We first met at a wedding fair held at the castle back in the early spring and, after a meeting at my studio, they asked me to photograph their wedding for them.
Mark is a keen photographer himself, and was quite sure about what he wanted from his wedding photography – to capture the atmosphere and excitement of the day, along with some great details of the castle, both inside and out, topped off with some wonderful portraits of him and Jill. It’s very flattering to be asked to record the biggest day of a couple’s lives, of course, but it’s a very great compliment when you know how important the photography is to your clients.
They visited my studio back in the summer for a pre-wedding shoot (which I wrote about on my old blog, and which you can see here) and when we discussed the wedding photography. As I guessed, there were some quite specific requests (including shots in the Castle’s wine cellar, which is as dark as …… well, a cellar!)
The day’s schedule included both a civil ceremony in the Great Hall, and a blessing in the Castle’s chapel. There would also be a display by the Castle’s birds of prey – which went ahead indoors!

The next wedding fair at Peckforton Castle is on Sunday March 4th, where I’ll be available to chat and show you more images from weddings I have shot there. Of course, please feel free to give me a call on 01565 777186 or email me at info@martinhambleton.com to discuss your own wedding plans before then.
